2020 was a bust. 2021 will be… probably another bust, but let’s remain optimistic.
With this being our last newsletter post before we traverse to another calendar year, we’re going to celebrate by dropping our favorite ClutchPoints videos.
While most of the attention our company garners comes from our (often unintentionally) hilarious graphics and social teams, our YouTube squad is really stepping it up.
I’m not saying it because ClutchPoints pays me, but I’m also not-not saying it because I like my checking account, either.
Before we get going, a small note: Please be safe if you choose to celebrate on the last day of 2020. That nasty 365 days might want to hurl one last haymaker before it leaves forever. Basically, be safe kids — drink Mr. Pibb; The working man’s Dr. Pepper.
Other caveats: I wrote the scripts for some of these videos. Only the funny ones, though. If you don’t like a video, then it wasn’t me who wrote it. Also, I snuck in a few from 2019 because I’m a huge fan of our mini-docs and we decreased the mini-doc output in 2020. We can sneak those back in if you, the FANS, love them to death. While I scribbled the scripts for most of the mini-docs, Frank T-Shirt Guy Smith did the voiceovers.
These are listed in numerical form, but aren’t ranked. Why is it still in listicle form then? Studies have shown that people absolutely love that shit for some reason.
10- Kobe Bryant’s Most Badass Moments
Obviously, we couldn’t make a 2020 year-in-review(ish) type listicle without including something about Jelly Bean Jr. Earlier in the year I wrote about the nuanced way people mourned Mamba after his passing, though it’s clear he meant a lot to many people.
9- Most Violent Posterizations In NBA History
Who doesn’t love a good, hard dunk?
8- Delonte West Mini-Doc
West was, unfortunately, in and out of the headlines for a variety of reasons this past year. He’s, at the time of this writing, doing well. Hopefully he can make 2021 a positive year.
7- Every Player (& Owner) Banned From The NBA
Some of this is funny, but much of it is gross. Hooray!
6- The Player Screwed Harder Than Isaiah Thomas
You learn something new each new day.
5- Haunted OKC NBA Hotel (Skirvin Hotel)
Spooky.
4- The Nasty History Of Jazz Fans
Let’s maybe be nicer to each other.
3- The Unknown Story of Giannis Antetokounmpo
You might have noticed that in our intro I went out of my way to say I wrote some of the scripts, but I 100 percent did not do the voiceovers. The above video is a prime example as to why, as I wrote in lyrics for T-Shirt Guy to sing, even though he never actually did it. THE COWARD!
2- Stephon Marbury: What Actually Happened?
One of my favorite players growing up, Starbury gets a raw deal sometimes.
1- 9x Basketball MVP Who Fled ISIS and a Civil War
Not exactly a household name, this was one of my favorite scripts to edit (I did not write it).
